Obituary

W.G. Fenske

WAHPETON - Waldemar G. Fenske, 73, 820 N. 3rd., Wahpeton, died Friday at St. Francis Hospital. The funeral was held Monday in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton with the Rev. Edward J. Rutter officiating. Special music was by Mrs. Paul Mumm and Al Hepper. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery. Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Casket bearers were Orville Fenske, Larry Gehler, Bruce Hoefs, Melvin Fenske, William Onchuck, Murville Folz, Duane Boehning and Mervin Buck.

Mr. Fenske was born Oct. 28, 1898, at Whittemar, Iowa, the son of August and Helen (Moltz) Fenske. The family moved to Raymond, Minn., when he was nine before coming to Great Bend in 1918. He attended local schools and was employed by his brother, Erich, for five years. He lived at Great Bend until 1930 when they moved to Center Township in Wahpeton. In 1954, they moved into Wahpeton. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he held several church offices. He was treasurer of Center Township for 33 years and had served as a director and treasurer of the Richland County Oil Company for 10 years.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Norman, of West Fargo; three grandchildren; and four brothers, August of Willmar, Minn., Albert of Ossian, Iowa, Henry of Pasadena, Calif., and Reinhold of Syosset, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Merlin, in 1958, two infant children; three brothers and three sisters.
