Obituary
Sylpha Flaa
Mrs. John (Sylpha) Flaa, 80, Wahpeton, died Wednesday at the Americana Nursing Home, Fargo. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, the Rev. Marvin Hartmann officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton.
Casket bearers will be Steiner and Stewart Flaa, Ed Straus, Walter Busta, Jim Flaa, Jr. and Waldo Bjorke.
Honorary casket bearers will be Gust Hektner, Vernon Johnson, Walter Johnson, Herman Gagelin and Roy Hausauer.
Visitation is this afternoon and evening (Thursday) and Friday until 11 a.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home and at the church prior to the service.
Sylpha Tweto was born Feb. 28, 1900 at Abercrombie. She attended school in Abercrombie and later attended the University of North Dakota - Grand Forks, and graduated from Valley City State Teachers College. She taught school in Minnesota and North Dakota for 10 years. She married John Flaa at Minneapolis June 11, 1929.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, and the Rebekah Lodge, Wahpeton.
She is survived by three sons, James, Minneapolis, John, Hutchinson, Minn., and Duane, Fargo; 11 grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Venice Chadwick, Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by her husband, one infant son and two daughters.
