Mrs. W. L. Forkner Dies Here Early Monday Morning
Resident of Wahpeton Since 1891 Will Probably Be Buried on Thursday
Mrs. Margaret Conner Forkner, Resident of Wahpeton Since 1891 died at four o’clock this (Monday), morning after a lingering illness. Funeral arrangements have not been completed but probably will be held on Thursday. Mrs. Forkner was the wife of W.L. Forkner, veteran superintendent of the Wahpeton Water Works department, who passed away in 1930.
Margarnet Conner Forkner was born May 2, 1855, at Madison, Wis., and moved to Grand Meadow, Minn. in 1861. From Grand Meadow, she came to Wahpeton in 1881 and married W. L. Forkner here in 1882. They lived successively in Bath, S.D., and Lisbon, N.D., until 1891, when they came to Wahpeton to make this city their permanent home. Mr. Forkner was engaged in the mercantile business until 1912, when he became superintendent of the water works. He passed away in 1930.
Mrs. Forkner is survived by two daughters, Mrs. R. W. Darner, of Detroit, Mich., and Miss Donna of this city; a sister, Mrs. Mary Keith, Fulton, Ill., and one grandson, Charles Darner, at Detroit.
