Obituary
Michael Forgerty
Services for Michael L. Fogerty, 72, of Wahpeton were Monday morning at St. John's Catholic Church there with Rev. George Mehok officiating.
Mr. Fogerty died Friday at his home.
Honorary casket bearers were Martin Pankow, Herb Anderson, Monrad Rakstad, Joseph Hanson, Gil Mowers, and Leonard O'leary.
Active casket bearers were Michael Clarey, Spencer Hokenson, Merle Hoppert, Dan Fogerty, Floyd Hauschild, and Ronald Leinen.
Michael Lionel Fogerty was born Feb. 8, 1905 at Fairmount to James and Hannah (Hanion) Fogerty.
He grew up there and was a graduate of North Dakota State University in 1930. He worked as a paint chemist in St. Paul several years. He then went to Miami, Fla. to work. In 1941 he was employed at the Huntsville Arsenal.
He married Leona Holthusen May 12, 1942 at Huntsville, Ala. The couple later moved to Louisville, Ky. where he worked for National Synthetic Rubber Co. and then to Oak Ridge, Tenn., where he was employed by the Atomic Energy Commission.
The couple returned to Wahpeton in 1948 where he owned and operated the Holthusen Implement Co. After selling the business he farmed in rural Breckenridge eight years. The couple then returned to Wahpeton where they have made their home since.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.
Survivors are his wife; a brother, Raymond of Lidgerwood; four sisters, Sister James Agnes Fogerty of St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Agenes Slatter, also of St. Paul and Mrs. Marion Clarey of Fairmount.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
