Clarence R. Freitag

Services for Clarence R. Freitag, 81, Wahpeton, were today at United Methodist Church, Wahpeton. He died Thursday at a Fargo Hospital. Rev. Stanley Mueller and a son, Donald Freitag, Lodi, Calif., officiated. Burial was in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.

Clarence R. Freitag was born July 23, 1897 at Green Bay, Wis., to Herman and Louisa (Ladd) freitag. He moved to Wheatland, N.D. with his family and later to Dwight, N.D., where he farmed.

He married Sophia Nelson March 3, 1925 at Wahpeton. He was employed at North Dakota State School of Science in the maintenance department until 1963 when he retired.

He was a member of United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, four daughters, Mrs. James (Phyllis) Twohig, Alexandria, Minn., Mrs. Daniel (Macine) Uhlich, Anamoose, N.D., Marjorie Nealy, Wahpeton, Mrs. Marcel (Ardis) McCusky, Minneapolis, four sons, Robert, Wahpeton, Donald, Lodi, Calif., Duane and Ronald, Minneapolis, four brothers and three sisters, Walter and George, Wadena, Minn., Ray, Hewitt, Minn., Evan, Wheatland, N.D., Mrs. Clara Solberg, Fargo, Mrs. Viola Mallow, Casselton, N.D., Mrs. Cling (Luella) Peterson, Staples, Minn., 43 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter and two brothers.

Honorary casket bearers were Ed DeVries, Sam Hill, Art Miller, Harris Plummer, Lloyd Keech and Joe Brickzin.

Active casket bearers were grandsons, David, Joe, Roger, John, Eugene, James and Bruce Freitag, Larry and Gary Ladwig.
