Obituary
Harriet L. Fleenor, 96 of Wahpeton, ND, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at St. Catherine’s Living Center. Her service will be held at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 2 PM with visitation one hour before the service and burial at Fairview Cemetery in Wahpeton at 4 PM.
Harriet Loraine Patterson was born on September 8, 1927, to Clyde and Hazel Patterson. She graduated from Claysville High School and worked in the public sector in New York City, Pittsburgh, and Washington, DC until meeting and marrying Claude Fleenor and moving with her daughter, Carol, to Wahpeton, North Dakota. Harriet was employed by the Richland County Welfare Department for many years before her retirement. Harriet earned a Bachelor of Science degree from NDSU and later, her Master of Science degree.
Harriet and her husband, Claude, loved to travel and spent many North Dakota winters in Marco Island, Florida, and visiting their daughter, Carol, in Texas and Arizona.
Harriet was a lifelong member of Evergreen Methodist Church, joining in 1959 when it was Foss United Methodist Church, until the present time. Harriet was involved in numerous church and community activities, actively supporting Wahpeton in many aspects over the years.
Harriet leaves her daughter, Carol Swinney (husband, Bill), sister-in-law, Shirley Altstatt, her nieces, Ann and Amy, and many friends.
