Obituary
Herman Gehler Funeral Tuesday In Wahpeton
Last rites will be conducted Tuesday for Herman Gehler 76, resident of Richland county for more than 50 years, who died Saturday morning after a few weeks illness. He had lived in Wahpeton since retiring from farming in 1945.
Services will be at 1:30 from the Schmitt-Poulton Funeral Home and at 2:30 from the Immanuel Lutheran church with Rev. Henry Fry officiating. Interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Schmitt-Poulton Funeral Parlor from 1:30 Monday until time of the funeral Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Delmer Witt, Larry Gehler, Merlin and Norman Fenske, Clyde Bohn and Gilbert Stoltenow.
Born May 3, 1878 in Fondulac, Wis., he cme to the Great Bend community with his parents when a boy nine years old. His parents farmed in that locality and he attended school and grew to manhood there.
He married Justina Stoltenow in 1901 and they farmed in Brandenburg township until moving to Wahpeton. The couple had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in November, 1951.
Surviving are his wife of Wahpeton; two sons, Ewald of Great Bend and Theodore of Wahpeton; five daughters, Mrs. Waldemar (Lena) Fenske of Wahpeton; Mrs. Ewald (Bertha) Boehning; Mrs. Robert (Lily) Witt and Mrs. Ralph (Ethel) Wurl all of Hankinson and Mrs. Clarence (Elma) Hoefs of Wahpeton; a sister, Mrs. Lena Stoltenow, Wahpeton; and 12 grandchildren.
