Obituary
Service Held Here Monday For Mrs. Glander
Mrs. Carl (Alta) Glander Jr., Center township farm woman and resident of this area nearly all of her life, died Friday after a long illness. She was 43 years old.
Funeral service was held on Monday afternoon from Immanuel Lutheran Church here with Rev. Henry Fry officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery with Vertin Funeral Home of Wahpeton handling arrangements.
Alta Houghtaling was born at Foxhome, April 23, 1912. She attended Foxhome school and grew to young womanhood in that community, attending high school at Fergus Falls.
She graduated from Moorhead State Teacher’s College and later taught school in Foxhome until her marriage to Mr. Glander Feb 1, 1942. They had farmed in Center Township since.
Mrs. Glander was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church here.
Besides her husband, she leaves five children. They are Carl III, Nancy, Betty Ann, Paul and Philip. She also leaves to mourn her passing two brothers and three sisters, Joseph Herman and Alice Houghtaling of Foxhome; Mrs. William Henderson, Underwood, Minn., and Mrs. Harvey Sanborn, Wahpeton. Pallbearers were Elroy Wegener, Otto Glander, Harlow Zarling, Roy Andrews, George Mussman and Carlton Linder.
