Obituary

HEART DISEASE DEATH CAUSE, CORONER SAYS Valvular Lesion of Long Standing May Have Been Incited by Eating in Gleason Case Joseph C. Gleason, blind resident of Wahpeton for 23 years whose death occurred Sunday afternoon after about 18 hours illness, died of heart failure, due to valvular lesion of several years duration, according to Coroner J. M. Ness. He certified to that verdict after examining the body and conferring with the physician who had attended him. The county official dispelled the belief that the man died from eating some poisonous substance, but said his disease was probably incited by the hearty evening meal which he had eaten. Rites for Gleason were conducted Wednesday morning from his home, the restaurant building near the Northern Pacific station, in the presence of his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Skeel, his stepbrother, George Skeel of Billings, Montana, and acquaintances. Burial was at Fairview cemetery. Pallbearers were C. N. Moses, Hovmand Anderson, G.W. Anderson and H. H. Chrisman.
