Obituary
Benjamin Gorder dies at 70
Funeral services for Benjamin Peter Gorder, 70, of Wahpeton will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Marvin Hartmann officiating.
Mr. Gorder died Thursday at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday until 11 a.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home east chapel and one hour prior to services at the church.
Benjamin Gorder was born April 1, 1904 at Garberry, N.D. to Jacob and Martina Tolstad Gorder. He attended schools there and in Bottineau, N.D. He was a 1929 graduate of North Dakota State University, Fargo.
Mr. Gorder coached in Washburn, N.D. and served as Adams County agent. He was also 4-H club agent for the state. The family moved to a farm near Galchutt in 1959. He was a member of the North Dakota Bicentennial Commission, president of the Richland County Historical Society, a director of the North Dakota Farm Bureau, a member of the First National Bank Board of Directors and a member of the Masonic AF&AM Lodge of Wahpeton.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian; two sons, Paul of rural Wahpeton and James of rural Elgin, Minn.; one daughter, Mrs. Donovan (Jean) Loff, rural Wahpeton; two brothers, Herman, Seattle, Wash., and Walter, Bottineau, N.D.; one sister, Elma Underdal, Rugby, and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.
