Obituary

Martin John Gagelin, 82, Wahpeton, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, in St. Francis Home, Breckenridge, Minn.

Martin John Gagelin, known as Fuzz, was born Jan. 17, 1922, in Wyndmere, N.D. He grew up and attended school in Barney, N.D. On April 10, 1944, he married Margie Moen in Barney. In 1944, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. In 1946, he returned to Barney, where he worked as a blacksmith for Gagelin Blacksmith. In 1956, he moved to Wahpeton, where he worked with his brother at Gagelin Brothers Blacksmith Shop. From 1969-87, he worked for Wil-Rich Manufacturing, Wahpeton. He entered the nursing home in January.

He is survived by his wife; five daughters: Sherryl (Michael) Meek, Anchorage, Alaska, Janet Gagelin, Wahpeton, Barb (Tom) Werner, Corona, S.D., Jody (Lyle) Kath, Winona, Minn., Lona (Ron) Bach, Fergus Falls, Minn., three brothers: Walter (Verdell), West Fargo, Daniel (Virginia), Overland Park, Kan., Richard (Kathy), Freemont, Calif.; three sisters, Rose Halverson, Fargo, Margaret (Harlan) Johnson, Minneapolis, Esther Harris, San Clemente, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Wednesday from 5 to 8, with a prayer service at 7, in Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, and Thursday from 1 to 2 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton.

Funeral: Thursday at 2 in the church.

Burial: Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
