Obituary
Daniel Gill
Services for Daniel Gill, 56, Breckenridge will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Breckenridge. He died Monday at St. Francis Hospital. Rev. Forest Struad and Pastor Lee Larson will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday; continuing through the evening with a prayer service at 7:30 at Joseph Vertin and Sons Chapel.
Daniel Gill was born Feb. 24, 1921 at Nekoosa, Wis. to John and Augusta (Mayer) Gill. He grew up in Medina, N.D., attending schools there. He graduated from the Sheyenne River Academy. He also attended Valley City State College. He then served in the Army during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific. After his discharge he attended North Dakota State School of Science.
He married Mary Manock on March 10, 1949 in Wahpeton. He worked at the creamery here for several years, and since 1966 had been an employee of the U.S. Postal Service.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, Jerry and James, Breckenridge, David, Grand Forks; two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Charlene) Speidel, Wahpeton, Mrs. Jerry (Karen) Bakken, Schweinsurt, Germany; six grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Augusta Gill, Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, William, Eureka, S.D.; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Moran, Boise, Idaho, Mrs. Lydia Lasher, Milton Freewater, Ore.; Mrs. Collette (Freida) Barber, Raleigh, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister.
