Paul Halvorson Called To Great Beyond Tuesday
Well Known Citizen Dies Following Severe Illness and Suffering.
Paul Halvorson died at his home in this city Tuesday at 2:20 in the morning, following an illness that lasted over a period of four years. Death came as a relief to intense suffering.
He was born March 16, 1884, in Abercrombie township, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Halvorson, both of whom have passed away.
Living his boyhood days in that community, he received his education in the the country schools After growing to manhood he was married November 14th, 1906 to Hilma Isackson. To this union two children were born, Melvin and Orthen.
Shortly after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Halvorson moved to Sherwood, N. Dak., where they engaged in farming. They remained there for three years. Later they moved to a farm west of Galchutt living in that community for four years.
Fifteen years ago, with his family he moved to Wahpeton, where they have lived since. He was employed at the Wahpeton Bottling Works a number of years. Later he entered the employment of the Vertin Furniture Co., with whom he was since connected.
Friends in this community regret sincerely the loss of a true friend such as Paul Halvorson was. He was a member of the Better Lutheran church and a man of deep religious faith.
Surviving him are his wife, two sons, Melvin and Orthen, five brothers, and who sisters, Henry and Mrs. O. C. Ness, Christine; Ole Sigwald and Mrs. Andrew Lind, of Sherwood; Tom and John, of Wahpeton, besides a number of other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon from the home at 1:30 p.m. and from the Bethel Lutheran church at 2:00 p.m. Rev. J. C. Wisnaes, the church pastor will officiate. Burial will be made in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Carl Petterson, Colfax; Joe Vertin, Frank Vertin, O. A. Rossum, Fred Foster and Oscar Anderson.
