M. Hanson Departs This Life Wednesday Morning
In the death of William M. Hanson, which occurred at 12:20 o’clock Wednesday morning, May 1, Wahpeton has lost one of the most genial, active, enterprising, and upright of her elderly citizens.
The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Despite the early hour there was a large attendance of friends and neighbors, with a profusion of beautiful flowers. Members of the Congregational choir furnished music and Pastor Shaw conducted the service. Rev. Dr. Knox offered the prayer. Interment was made in Fairview Cemetery.
William Hanson, father of Mrs. Capt Purdon nearly 71 years of age and who has been ill the past winter from typhoid fever died Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Hanson removed to Wahpeton from Ohio in the fall of ’99 to make their home with their daughter. The death leaves wife and daughter to mourn the death of a kindly husband and an indulgent father. The funeral occurred at the Congregational church on this Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. Shaw officiating and the remains will be laid at Fairview cemetery.
