Funeral Services Held for Ole N. Hanson Saturday
Former Dwight Resident Broke Hip Four Years Ago; Been Invalid Since
Funeral serves were held Saturday afternoon for Ole N Hanson from the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Oliver, Saturday afternoon at one and from the Bethel Lutheran church an hour later. Burial was in Fairview cemetery. Rev P.A. Gisvold officiated.
Four years ago Mr. Hanson fell and broke his hip. He was taken to the Wahpeton hospital where he was a patient for sixteen months and later to the Oliver home, where he was lovingly care for. He has been an invalid since the accident. He was again taken to the hospital a few days ago where he passed away Thursday morning. Death was due to a heart condition.
When a young man of 20 years of age, Mr. Hanson immigrated to the United States from Helgeland, Norway, locating on a farm ear Dwight, where he continued farming operations over a period of years.
On June 26, 1893, he was united in marriage to Dorthea Linean. To this union, five children were born, four of whom are living; Mrs. Charles Radtke of Casselton; Mrs. Frank Oliver of Wahpeton; Herman Hanson of Long Prairie, Minn., Mrs. Joseph Bakken of Dwight; beside his children, fourteen grandchildren also survive. His wife preceded him in death, 33 years ago also his daughter, Ella. (Mrs. Oscar Berg) who passed away a year and five months ago.
Mr. Hanson was a man of fine character, was highly respected by all who knew him. During the past fifteen years, he made his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Oliver.
During the funeral services Mrs. Howard Paul sang two numbers, “Saved by Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” The choir sang, “Nearer My God to Thee.”
The pallbearers were John Halvorson, John Mathieson, Gust Isacson, Louis Larson, Carl Peterson and Oscar Anderson.
