Obituary
MRS. A. O. HANSON DIES; FUNERAL AT 1 TODAY Pioneer of Richland County Was 75 Years of Age; Lived Here Since 1882 Last Saturday evening the community was saddened by the passing away of one of our well-known and well loved pioneer residents, Mrs. A. O. Hanson. She had been ill only about one month. Anna Elstad Hanson was born in Eidsvold, Norway, January 18, 1850, and came with her parents to the United States at the age of 16, settling in Farmington, Minnesota. There she lived with her parents, until her marriage to Mr. A. O. Hanson in 1878. She moved to Wahpeton with her husband in 1883 and located on a farm six miles northwest of Wahpeton, where she made her home until a few years ago when the family moved into Wahpeton.
Mrs. Hanson was a woman of the finest character, who bore the vicissitudes of life bravely. She was of cheerful disposition ,always thinking of others first and of herself last. She was a devout Christian, a kind, loving mother and a devoted wife, and those who are left to mourn her passing feel a loss that cannot be replaced.
Mrs. Hanson is survived by her husband, two sons, Will and Fred, both of Fort Benton, Montana, and four daughters, Mrs. W. H. Clarke of Calgary, Canada, Mrs. Belle V. Josephson of Brady, Montana, Mrs. W. I. Divet of Wahpeton and Mrs. J. T. Josephson of Deer Lodge, Montana. Sixteen grandchildren also survive.
A brother and five sisters of Mrs. Hanson are also left. They are: Edward Eolstad of Elko, Minnesota; Mrs. B. J. Johnson, Mrs. Maggie Johnson and Mrs. Minnie Johnson, all of Grafton, N. D.; Mrs Marie Peters of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Augusta Roots of Farmington, Minnesota.
