R. R. Hausken Dies Wednesday
Funeral for Pioneer Merchant To Be Friday
Robert R. Hausken, pioneer Wahpeton merchant, died Wednesday noon and funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon from Bethel Lutheran church here. He was a charter member of Bethel church. Mr. Hausken came to Wahpeton 53 years ago from Dwight where he had clerked in a store for several years previous to that.
Born Aug 3, 1861, in Stavenger, Norway, he came to Richland county as a young man. He was married in 1889 to Anna Myhra at St. John’s church north of the widely known Myhra farm.
He came to Wahpeton to clerk in the Stern Clothing company, and then going into business for himself in 1890. In 1918, he retired from business.
He lived in his own on Eighth Street North in this city, the center of his interest being the church to which he belonged.
He is survived by four children: Maude H. Hausken, Los Angeles, Cal., Earl H. Hausken, Berkeley, Cal., and Robert Arther and Clyde O., of Wahpeton. A granddaughter, Sally Hausken lives here and three sisters live in Norway.
Pallbearers will be Reuben Myhra, Joe Jacobchick Tony Miksche, L. Christenson. L. Danham and Max Lauder. Honorary pallbearers will be John Bjornson, Karl Mikkelson, Gilbert Johnson, O. J. Olson, R. L. Hawes, Albert Weis and D. D. Swank. The body is at Schmitt and Olson Chapel.
