August Heine died Wednesday evening of last week about nine o’clock at his home on Third street, from heart failure. He was fifty-three years two months and two days old at the time of his death. Mr. Heine had not been in good health for some time, but it was not thought that anything serious threatened, and the sudden death was a blow not only to his family but to his friends as well.

August Heine was a native of province Hanover, Germany, but at the age of seventeen he came to America, where he located in Nebraska. About two years later he moved to Ellendale, N. D., and in 1885 was married, going back to his former Nebraska home for that purpose. After about eight years in Ellendale the Heine family moved to Richland County, occupying a farm near Tyler. Some fifteen years ago the family moved to Wahpeton, where they made their home ever since.

Mr. and Mrs. Heine are the parents of nine children, six of whom survive their father, all living at home. They are: Hattie, Rosa, Clara, Henrietta, Viola and Walter. Mr. Heine is also survived by his wife and three brothers, a sister an aged mother and other relatives.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, services being held at the home and later at Ev. Luth. Immanuel church, Rev. Meier conducting the services. There was a large gathering of friends to pay their last respects to the deceased. Ernest Heine of Ellendale and Albert Heine of Thayer, Neb., brothers of the deceased, and Mrs. Deadwood, a sister-in-law, from the same place, attended the funeral. Others from this vicinity who were in attendance were: Rev. and Mrs. T. Hinck of Great Bend, Rev. R. Hillgendorf, T. Belford, and the Misses Bertha amd Ida Hinck, Great Bend; Miss Maria Hinck, Lidgerwood; Mr. and Mrs. C. Hoebner, Great Bend; and many from the Great Bend and Fairmount vicinity whose names could not be learned. It was one of the largest funerals ever held in Ev. Luth. Immanuel church. Pall bearers were Messers. John Holthusen, John Tribke, C. Erdmann, G. A. R. Nickel, Robert Frebel and J Meyer. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved family.
