Obituary
Nels Hogfus, 84, Wahpeton Dies
Nels Hogfus, 84, a resident of Wahpeton Rehabilitation Center for the past 11 years, died Monday at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Vertin’s Wahpeton Chapel with Rev. Marvin L. Hartmann officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Hogfus was born in Norway, July 31, 1881 and came to the United States in 1899 to work on a farm near Finley, N.D. He married Anna Moen and they worked on a farm near Finely, later at Hope, N.D., and at Dwight, N.D. He had worked on the Thomas Manikowke farm near Mooreton for nine years. The past 11 years he resided in in the Wahpeton Rehabilitation Center. Surviving are one son and four daughters.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1961 and one brother.
Pallbearers were Paul Thiel, Wilbert Thiel, Henry Haring, Thomas Manikowske, Othmar Schonhardt, and Alon Berndt.
