Henry F. Holtgrewe

Henry F. Holtgrewe, 61, New Brighton, Minn., formerly of Wahpeton died Sunday. Funeral services were Tuesday at Vertin's-Wahpeton Chapel. Rev. Marvin L. Hartmann officiated. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.

Henry F. Holtgrewe was born in Lubteen, Germany on Dec. 31, 1918 to George and Martha (Luhr) Holtgrewe. He came with his parents at the age of six to live in the Dwight, N.D. area. He attended local schools and served in the Army during World War II.

He married Hazel Striffler Nov. 16, 1942 in Breckenridge. Following his Army discharge he returned to live in Breckenridge and Wahpeton and worked for Otter Tail Power Co. at the Kidder Station. He moved to Olympia, Wash., and lived there until 1949 when he returned to this area and operated a Wahpeton cab service. He lived in Moorhead and Rochester, Minn. before moving to New Brighton where he was employed by the Twin City Arsenal. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 136.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel, New Brighton; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Hall, Port Orchard, Wash.; his mother and three brothers, Mrs. Floyd (Martha) Sumpter; Bernard, Charles and George Holtgrewe, all of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; one sister, Mrs. Fred (Katherine) Hinricks, Seattle, Wash.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.
