Obituary

Funeral Services Held For H. F. Holthusen, Wahpeton

Funeral services were held Sunday for Henry F Holthusen, 78, at the Immanual Lutheran church in Wahpeton. Rev. Henry Fry officiated at the services and interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in the spring.

Family services were held Saturday in Vertin’s-Wahpeton chapel

Mr. Holthusen was born near Tyler in Summit Township Feb. 10, 1883, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Holthusen. He grew up in that community and married Martha Sedler at Great Bend Oct. 24, 1906. They farmed there until 1914 when they moved to Center Township for a few years. They moved to Wahpeton where he started Hothusen Seed and Feed with his brother, Walter, later selling his share to George Holthusen. He was manager of Holthusen Implement from 1926 until he retired in 1946.

Mr. Holthusen was an enthusiastic supporter of American Legion sports and gave financial support to their projects.

Mrs. Holthusen died July 24 1952.

Mr. Holthusen lived at the Wahpeton Rehabilitation Center the past year and a half before entering St. Francis hospital, where he died Thursday.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Henry (Lillie) Hauschild, Wahpeton; Mrs. John (Laura) Jung, Wahpeton; Mrs. Michael (Leona) Fogarty, Breckenridge; and two brothers, George W. and Walter B. of Wahpeton.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John D. Holthusen, and a sister Mrs. William (Lydia) Tribke.

Pallbearers were Harry Koppelman, Earl Hauschild, Clarence Bladow, Duane Holthusen, Eldon Bladow and Monroe Sedler.

The organist was Mrs. William Enochson and the soloist was Mrs. Arnold Pankow.
