Mrs. A. Hoppert Dies Tuesday Funeral Friday

Prominent Lady To Be Buried In Fairview Cemetery Here

Funeral services for Mrs. A. W. Hoppert, prominent Wahpeton woman, will be held Friday afternoon at three o’clock from the Congregational Church with Rev. Ross B. Hartman officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. The Order of Eastern Star, of which Mrs. Hoppert was past matron will conduct services at the graveside. Mrs. Hoppert was a past noble grand will attend the services in a body.

Mrs. Hoppert passed away at 7:15 Tuesday morning. She had been in ill health for the past three and a half years but her condition was not considered critical until Friday when she was taken to St. Francis Hospital.

Lillian Marie Robertsen was born November 17, 1891, in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Robertsen. Her father, who is still living, is in attendance at the funeral. Her mother passed away some years ago. Her father is at present employed as a tailor at the Athletic Club.

Mrs. Hoppert grew to womanhood in St. Paul, attending the schools there and on September 12, 1916, she was united in marriage with Arthur W. Hoppert. The young couple came to Wahpeton after the wedding and this has been their home ever since. Mr. Hoppert came as a plumbing contractor bought property in the town and gradually expanded his holdings until the couple came to be looked upon as an integral part of the community.

To this couple were born four children, all of whom were at home with their mother when the end came. They are Glenn of Duluth, and Private Merle Hoppert of Seattle Wash., but whose home is in Wahpeton, and two daughters, Lucille and Doris, now Mrs. Clifford Reiquam. In addition to the children, her husband and father, Mrs. Hoppert is also survived by a brother, Carl Robertsen of Belfair, Wash., and two sisters, Mrs. C.N. Sangster, South Gate, Calif. and Mrs. L. B. Hanks of North Hollywood Calif. A granddaughter, Susan Lee Hoppert, also survives.

Mrs. Hoppert, in addition to her lodge activity, was an active member of the Congregational Church of the Ladies Aid of that church, the Mary Lane circle of the Congregational church, and a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Woman’s Literary club, before her illness.

The body will be taken from the Schmitt and Olson chapel and will lie in state at the Hoppert home on North Fifth Street.

Pallbearers are C. M. Comstock, George Reeder, E. O Stoudt, S. H. Murray, A. W. Plachte and D. Eldon Lum.
