Obituary
Rites for Joseph Hektner, 71, To Be Held on Tuesday
Joseph Hektner 71 Wahpeton, died suddenly Saturday shortly after being admitted to St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 Tuesday in Bethel Lutheran Church. Rev. Loyal E. Golf officiating. Interment will be in Garden of Christus Fairview Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be this evening (Monday) at Vertin’s Wahpeton Funeral Home.
He was born at Mooreton, N.D., July 9, 1893, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Hektner.
He grew up in that area and married Mabel Huss Oct. 10, 1920. The couple farmed there until retiring to Wahpeton in 1947.
He served in several offices on the township board while in Mooreton.
He was member of the Bethel church and Lutheran Brotherhood.
He leaves his wife: two sons, Vernon of Wahpeton and Donald of Mooreton; three daughters, Mrs. Arleton (Sylvia) Liknes and Mrs. Marcus (Jeanette) Radig, both of Milnor, N.D., and Mrs. Alvin (Inez) Eckre, Wahpeton; five brothers, Harry of Minneapoli, John of Glasgow, Mont., George of Bismarck, N.D., Gustav of Moorhead and Ralph of Jamestown, N.D.; two sisters, Martha Hektner of Fargo, and Mrs. Abel (Selma) Compaan, Fargo and 20 grandchildren.
Mrs. Horace Lahren will be organist and vocalist will be Ralph Graalum.
Active pallbearers, all nephews, will be Alfred Hektner, Ralph Hektner, Jr., Frederick Huss, Gordon Huss, Robert Huss and Clinton Likness.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Carl Fladby, Ole Hatlie, Oscar Lee, Vic Ramstad, Matt Rindahl, and William Sturma.
