Obituary
Prominent Nansen Farmer, E. H. Hendrickson, Dies
Funeral services for E. H. Hendrickson, 59, of Nansen Township near Colfax will be held Wednesday. The services will be held, as to his wishes, at the Vertin-Schmitt and Poulton Funeral Home, North Chapel, at 10 a.m, CDT, for relatives and close friends. He died in a Fargo hospital Saturday.
Rev. J. M. Moe will officiate at the services and interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in state after 4 p.m. Tuesday until the time of the services.
Elmer H. Hendrickson, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lauritz Hendrickson, was born in Nansen Township, May 2, 1901. He grew up and attended local schools in that area. He attended the State School of Science in Wahpeton and was a graduate of the Dakota Business College in Fargo.
He was married Oct. 29, 1924 to Agness Ballestad in the Walcott Lutheran church. The bride's father, the late Rev. Erick Ballestad, performed the ceremony.
The couple farmed in Nansen Township where he served as a township supervisor and was active in community affairs and 4-H work. He was instrumental in the organization of the Nansen Community Center and served as a director.
He was a member of the Galchutt Lutheran church and was active in church work. He was baptized and confirmed in the Bethany Lutheran church near Galchutt.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Kathryn and her husband, Dale Haugen of Breckenridge; Darleen and her husband, Grover Brandt, of Watertown, S. D.; Donna and her husband, Kenneth Haman of Fargo; a son, Hjalmer (Chuck) and his wife, Diane of Colfax, and six grandchildren, Mrs. John Haley of Wahpeton, Keith and Douglas Haugen; Gregg and Terry Brandt and Nancy and Robert Hageman.
He is survived by three brothers, Henry of Colfax, Lafe of Breckenridge and Adolph of Ephrato, Calif.; and four sisters, Mrs. Edward Moen of Colfax, Mrs. Nels Moen of Colfax, Mrs. H. J. Stevenson of Vista, Calif., and Betty Henrickson of Colfax. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a son, Jerone DeWayne.
Pallbearers for Mr. Hendrickson will be Frank Nelson, Fred Hudson, Gilbert Kruse, Karl Fahsholz, John Fiske, John Frankl, Fritz Mitskog, and Gordon Olson.
Named as honorary pallbearers are Andrew Anderson, James Little, Earl Robinson, Roy Johnson, Ingvald Grangaard, Melvin Overby, Ben Hageman, Henry Kurtz, Edwin S. Larson, Vernon Johnson and Harry Murray.
Mrs. Horace Lahren will be the organist at the services and Steve Wasteland and Archie Isackson will be the vocalists.
