Obituary
Clarence Hoefs, 46, Dies; Rites Held Today
Clarence R. Hoefs, 46, lifelong Richland county resident, died Tuesday at a local hospital after a long illness.
Funeral services were held today (Thursday) from Immanuel Lutheran church, Wahpeton. Rev. Henry Fry was officiating clergyman. Hafner-Miller-Ross American Legion post conducted military rites. Interment was at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Clarence R. Hoefs was born at Hankinson Nov. 17, 1915. He attended local schools and was later employed at a furniture store in Hankinson.
He was married to Alma Gehler June 30, 1940, at Great Bend. He served with the U.S. Army from July 1943 until 1945.
Following discharge he attended the State School of Science and after graduating he became an instructor in the electrical department at the school. He worked until ill health forced his retirement one year ago.
Surviving are his wife Alma; one son Bruce; his mother, Mrs. Albert (Helena) Hoefs, Chicago, Ill.; one brother, August, Birnamwood, Wis., and two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Irene) Nells, and Mrs. Alvin (Beatrice) Tyson, both Chicao.
Organist was Mrs. William Enochson and vocalist was Mrs. Arnold Pankow. Pallbearers were Elmer Hohenstern, George Soltis, Elmer Affield, Clarence Bladow, Hilding Johnson and Walter Wolfgram.
Vertin’s-Wahpeton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
