Obituary

John Holthusen

John William Holthusen, 82, Wahpeton, died Wednesday at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Edward J. Rutter officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday until 11 a.m. at the Vertin Funeral Home, Wahpeton, and at the Immanuel Lutheran Church for one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Holthusen was born on September 9, 1892 in Summit Township North Dakota. Henry and Adelheide Miencke Holthusen were his parents.

He farmed in Summit Township from 1927 to 1963 with his brother, after which they moved to Wahpeton. Mr. Holthusen was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and sponsor of The Lutheran Hour. He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include two brothers, George of Wahpeton and Fred of rural Wahpeton and a sister, Mrs. Edward (Anna) Wegner of Wahpeton. He was preceded by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.

Honorary casketbearers are Orville Muehlberg, Oscar Krause, Alvin Schoeneck, Louis Leshovsky, Harry Miller and Milton Sedler. Active casketbearers are Herbert Erdman, Duane Marvin and Walter Thimjon, Orvel Holthusen and Clyde Olson.

Organist is Mrs. William Enochson with special music by the Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Choir.

Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
