Robert Horne

Funeral services for Robert Horne, 67, of Naytahwaush, Minn., formerly of Wahpeton, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Naytahwaush, with an 8 p.m. prayer service Wednesday at Samuel Memorial Episcopal Church, Naytahwaush.

Military rites will be performed by the Wahpeton VFW as Mr. Horne lies in state in Vertin's Wahpeton chapel at 3 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Mr. Horne died Monday at a Fargo hospital. Matteson Funeral Home of Mahnomen, Minn., is in charge of arrangements.

Honorary casket bearers are Stanley Beach, Louis Brewer, Ben Berger, Harold Lenzmier, Art Wiemar and Ted Hines.

Active casket bearers are Richard, Sidney and Howard LaVoy, Solon Hill, Florent Graff and Alois Rumreich.

Mr. Horne was born April 10, 1906, at Martin's Ferry, Calif. He married Esther Burnett Aug. 6, 1929, at Kansas City, Mo. From 1928 to 1965, he was utilities foreman at Wahpeton Indian School. In 1965, he retired to Naytahwaush. During World War II, he was in the Seabees.

He was active in Wahpeton Boy Scouts, VFW and American Legion.

Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Yvonne (Mrs. Bill) Barney and Dianne (Mrs. Everett) Kjelbertson, both of Fargo; a brother, Rev. Frank Horne, Eureka, Calif.; four sisters, Christine (Mrs. N. A.) Newell, Reno, Nev., Jeanette (Mrs. John) Lucero, Isleta, N.M., and Delores (Mrs. Anthony) Heminger, Hoopa, Calif.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
