Obituary

F. O. Johnson Of Wahpeton Dies Saturday

F. O. Johnson, 72, retired Homestead Township farmer who had resided in Wahpeton since 1934, died Saturday at his home here. He was the father, of Lambert Johnson, Richland County sheriff.

Funeral services have been set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in Schmitt and Poulton Funeral Home with Rev. P.A. Gisvold of Wahpeton officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Pallbearers will be John P. Dietz, Robert Matt, Arthur Miller, Irvin Kent, Norbert Mundson and Frank James.

Frank O. Johnson was born July 18, 1886 at Burdick, Kan., where he attended schools and grew to manhood. He farmed with his parents there a number of years. He and Minnie A. Nelson were united in marriage at McPherson, Kans., September 28, 2910 and they came to Richland County in 1919. They farmed in Homestead Township. Mrs. Johnson died in April 1932 and two years later Mr. Johnson moved into Wahpeton where he worked as a laborer until retiring in 1951. Two children also preceded him in death.

Surviving are four daughters and six sons. They are Mrs. Richard (Bernielle) Gast of Wahpeton; Mrs. Leonard (Neoda) Chapweske of Corvallis, Ore; Mrs. Robert (Esther) Olson of Riverdale, N.D.; Miss Astrid Johnson of Corvallis, Franklin of Barnesville, Orville of St. Paul, Lambert of Wahpeton, Irvin of Salem, Ore., Warren of Silver Bay, Minn., and Alfred of Breckenridge.

Also surviving are a brother Elmer, of Eskridge Kans., two sisters Mrs. David Burns of Quanemo, Kan., and Mrs. Victor Neustrom of Herington, Kans. And 20 grandchildren.
