Obituary
Wm. Johnson Dies Monday
Funeral services for William Johnson longtime resident of Wahpeton, who died Monday morning at St. Francis hospital after a short illness will be held at two o’clock from First Congregational church. Masonic graveside services will be held at Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson had been a hospital patient the past week. Earlier he made at trip to Mayo Clinic in Rochester and was returned to the hospital here by ambulance. William P. Johnson was born Feb. 15, 1888 at Madison, Minn., son of the late Martin Johnson and Anna Neppen Johnson. The family moved to Clinton, Minn., in 1898 and he attended school there. He was a plumber and electrician in Clinton until 1922 when he came to Breckenridge to be employed as machinist by the Great Northern, a job in which he continued for 32 years until his retirement Aug. 1.
He married Helen Charles at Hancock, Minn., Jan. 17, 1925 and they resided in Wahpeton during their entire married life. Surviving is his wife, sisters, Miss Lill Johnson, of Fairmount, N. Dak., Mrs. Wm. Griffis, of Lake Crystal, Minn., and brothers Judean Johnson, of St. Paul and Harry Johnson Allston, Minn.
He was an active member of First Congregational church, active in Masonic circles he was past master of Wahpeton Lodge, A.F. & A.M. in World War I; he served in the U.S. Navy.
The body will lie in state in Vertin Funeral chapel and friends may call there.
