Obituary
Mrs. W. Johnson of Wahpeton, Passes Sunday
Mrs. William (Helen) Johnson, 56, resident of Wahpeton nearly 30 years, died Sunday afternoon at St Francis Hospital where she had been a patient since Thursday. She had been in ill health for some time.
She followed her husband in death by a little more than a month. Mr. Johnson died here Dec. 6 after a lingering illness.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from First Congregational church with Rev. F. T. Hirons officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. The body will lie in state Monday evening and until the time of the funeral Tuesday at Vertin Funeral Chapel in Wahpeton who are handling arrangements.
The family requests memorials be to the Mr. and Mrs. William Johnson Memorial Fund of the First Congregational Church.
Helen Charles was born at Hancock, Minn., July 4, 1898, where she spent her girlhood and attended schools. She married Mr. Johnson at Hancock, Jan. 17, 1925, 30 years ago this Monday, and they came to Wahpeton. They had resided here ever since Mr. Johnson was employed as a machinist on the Great Northern Railroad.
Survivors include two half-brothers, Ernest H. and Graham C. Charles, both of Hancock, and two sisters, Clementine Francis Charles of San Francisco and Mary Louise Charles of Portland, Ore.
She was an active member of the First Congregational Church, the Harmony Circle and the Ladies Aid. Mrs. Johnson was a past matron of Wahpeton Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
