Obituary
C. J. Johnson Dies Wednesday In Minneapolis
Carl J. Johnson, 76, of Minneapolis died Wednesday in St. Barnabas Hospital. He had been in ill health for several months.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton. Organist will be Mrs. William Enochson and the Immanuel Ladies’ Chorus will sing. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Vertin’s-Wahpeton Chapel until 11 a.m. and at the church from 1 to 2 p.m.
Mr. Johnson was born near Devils Lake, N.D., March 13, 1891. He grew up in that area, living there until 1944 when he moved to Minneapolis. He married Nora Schoeneck of Summit Township Feb. 19, 1949, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton and the couple had lived in Minneapolis since. He had worked as a custodian at the Doctors Building there.
He leaves his wife; one sister, Mrs. C. B. (Erna) Haile of Devils Lake; and one brother, Carl Steigenmann of Portland, Ore.
Pallbearers will be Richard Halie, David Lorenz, Stewart Lorenz, Ralph Schroeder, Cyril Schroeder and Allen Rutter.
