Obituary
Louis A. Jacobs
Louis A. Jacobs, 88, Wahpeton, died Sunday at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Gary L. Janzen and Rev. Charles Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Wahpeton. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening and Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Casket bearers will be Robert and Carl Swenson, George Trupka, Russel Jacobs, Lloyd McKibben and Leon Peterson.
Louis Albert Jacobs was born Dec. 13, 1890 at Algona, Iowa, the son of Hans and Elizabeth (Kaping) Jacobs. The family moved to a farm in Nielsen Township near Breckenridge. He attended local schools. He married Marion Trupka Dec. 11, 1918 at Moorhead. They resided in Wahpeton after their marriage. She died March 3, 1966. He began work for Great Northern Railroad in 1922 and retired as a storehouse clerk Nov. 4, 1958.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway-Airline Clerks.
He is survived by a son, Edward R. Jacobs, Wahpeton; two sisters, Mrs. Pernal (Lena) McKibben, and Mrs. Millie Zarling, both of Breckenridge; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers and a sister.
