Obituary
Hjalmer Jacobson
Services for Hjalmer Jacobson, 83, Wahpeton, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home chapel with Dean Swenson and Alfred Broady officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Jacobson died Saturday at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening and Wednesday until time of services at the chapel.
Casket bearers will be Roger Slotten, Roger Evanson, Dwight Anderson, Merle Johnson, Earl Wold, and Donald Jacobson.
Hjalmer Jacobson was born Dec. 25, 1892 at Galchutt to Julius and Anne (Kolstad) Jacobson.
He was raised at Galchutt and served in the army in Europe. He took part in the Meuse-Argonne offensive and the Alsace-Lorraine defensive sector and received the Purple Heart.
He married Agnes Brandon May 12, 1922. The couple farmed in Abercrombie and Dwight Townships until 1942 when they moved to Wahpeton. He was employed at Wahpeton Pottery, Fairmount Foods, and the B&W Dairy. She died Jan. 21, 1963. He has resided at the Leach Home for the past five and a half years.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Virginia) Peterson of Milnor, N.D., and Mrs. Harry J. (Gloria) Anderson and Mrs. Charles (Donna) Anderson, both of Phoenixz, Ariz.; six grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Farup and Mrs. Alice Boe of Wahpeton and Mrs. Barney (Miranda) Welge of Webster, S.D.; and a brother, Kenneth, of Kent, Minn.
