Obituary
August Johnson
August L. (Gus) Johnson, 86, Minot, formerly of Wahpeton and Breckenridge, died Friday at Minot. Funeral services were Monday (today) at the Zion Lutheran Church in Minot. A second service will be Wednesday evening at 7 at Vertin's-Wahpeton Chapel, Rev. Eugene Floistad officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Memorial Gardens.
August L. Johnson was born July 16, 1894 in Sweden. In 1917 he came to the United States and Minneapolis where he worked on farms. During World War I he worked in a war plant and following the war he moved to Doran, Minn., where he was married to Betty Benjaminson in New York on July 27, 1932. In 1922 he moved to Breckenridge and worked for the Great Northern Railroad, retiring in 1964 as a car inspector. He lived in Breckenridge from 1922 to 1933 when he moved to Wahpeton, and in 1957 he moved to Minot.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; one son, Lorentz (Swede) Johnson, Breckenridge; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
