Obituary

Julius Johnson Dies Monday

Julius P. Johnson, 78, of Alexandria, Minn., formerly of Mooreton and Wahpeton, died Monday in that city.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Garden of the Christus, Fairview Memorial Cemetery, in Wahpeton. Anderson Funeral Home of Alexandria is in charge of all arrangements.

Julius P. Johnson was born March 10, 1890, at Mooreton. He grew to manhood there and served in World War I. He married Alma Leines Sept. 2, 1923 at Milan, Minn. The couple operated the Johnson Hardware business in Mooreton until 1943 when he moved to Wahpeton and was employed by Montgomery Ward until moving to Alexandria in 1948. He operated a motel there until retiring in 1955. The couple continued to reside in Alexandria. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Senior Citizens Band in Alexandria and the Wahpeton American Legion Post.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Marlowe of Greenville, Pa., and Daryl of Two Harbors, Minn.; seven grandchildren and one brother, Joseph Johnson of Wahpeton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.
