Obituary
J.P. Kauth Dies Wednesday P.M.
John Peter Kauth, Wahpeton engineer on the Great Northern for the past 33 years died Wednesday night at Breckenridge hospital after an illness of more than a week. Death was due to heart trouble. Funeral services are to be conducted from the Vertin chapel in Wahpeton with Rev. P.A. Gisvold officiating and burial will be in Fairview cemetery.
M.r Kauth was born in St Paul, March 29, 1888, the son of John and Bertha Kauth. He started working for the Great Northern as a fireman at Breckenridge when a boy, 18 years old and has been employed by the Great Northern out of Breckenridge ever since that time except the eight years spent by Fargo. He returned to Wahpeton five years ago and lived at 212 Fifth Street North, this city. He is survived by his wife, his son Vernen Kauth of Detroit Lakes, Minn., and daughter Mrs. Dewey Burr of Fargo, four grandchildren and three sisters; Mrs. Kate Fuller, Mrs. Marie MacLaughlin and Mrs. Sue Fitzniaurie; all of Olympia, Wash. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers.
