Obituary
DOROTHY GOULD KEEN DIES SUNDAY MORNING Death Ends Suffering of Young Lady – Funeral Services at 2 o’clock Today Dorothy Gould Keen, 20, adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Keen of Wahpeton, died at 1:15 o’clock Sunday morning, Jan. 9,
of tuberculosis of the spine, an affliction that had been with her since infancy.
After the death of her mother she came from Minneapolis, at the age of 22 months, to live with Mr. and Mrs. Keen and was at that time so healthy that she won a diamond as a prize for being the best looking baby entered in a baby contest. Soon afterward, however, symptoms of trouble began to appear and her later life was increasingly shadowed by ill health. She attended the Wahpeton schools until she was graduated from the grade school, but considerations of health prevented her from attending high school. She was always cheerful, even though the ministrations of the best physicians failed to halt the ravages of the tuberculosis which had settled in her spine. She was able to be out until about two weeks ago and the last ten days of her life were spent in bed. Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the Keen home, the Rev. C. F. Dunham officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.
