Rolland Keim Rites Saturday at City Church
Well Known Resident Dies in East While on Winter Trip
Funeral services for Rolland Keim, 52 who died Monday at Holy Family hospital in Laporte, Indiana, will be held Saturday afternoon at two o’clock from Wahpeton Methodist church. Rev. C. H. Meier will officiate and there will be an Odd Fellows service. The body is lying in state at the Hovmand Anderson home.
Mr. and Mrs. Keim left December 4th on a trip east and had visited the former’s brother, Fred W. Keim at Annawan, Ill., and another brother, Forrest E. Keim at Waterloo, Ill. They also visited an aunt, Mrs. Grace Gibbs at Cleveland, Ohio, and two others, Mrs. Minnie Holmes and Miss Ruth Williams at Galva, Ill. In Anderson, S. C., they visited their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Reynold Keim and she was accompanying them home when Mr. Keim was taken ill.
They had made all their visits and were driving home when Mr. Keim became ill Christmas eve and was taken to the Indiana hospital where he underwent an emergency operation for an abscessed appendix.
Rolland Keim came to Richland county with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Keim in March, 1916. The parents went back east in 1924 and Hold and Rolland Keim took over the farm in Center township where they remained until three years ago when they moved onto the Nunns farm in Dwight township.
He was married to Agnes Anderson of this city 23 years ago and to them were born two sons, one son preceding his father in death and the other, Ensign Keim, station in Guam with the naval air corps, flying home upon news of his father’s illness. He joined his wife and mother at Laporte and they are expected to arrive by car today.
Mr. Keim was township clerk in Center township, succeeding his mother and served in that capacity for 18 years. He was prominent in the Mooreton-Center Farmers Union and was its secretary. He was active in Wahpeton Odd Fellows lodge and a past noble grand. He was member of the board of directors of Fairview cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Albert Johnson, George and Clifford Ruddy, Calmer Carlson, Ray Moss and Harry Wallis. Interment will be in the family lot in Fairview cemetery. Schmitt and Olson are in charge of arrangements.
