Mrs. H. H. Klingbell Funeral Monday At Church Here
Died Friday At St. Mary Hospital At Age of 67
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon from the Vertin Funeral chapel in Wahpeton at 2 o’clock and from the Immanuel Lutheran church at 2:30 for Mrs. Herman Klingbell, resident of this area for many years, who died Friday at the St. Mary hospital. She was 67 years old.
Rev. Henry Fry officiated at the services and burial was made in the Fairview cemetery. Vertin Funeral home of Wahpeton were in charge. Pallbearers were Henry Holthusen, Walter Holthusen, Robert Matt, Albert Martin, Henry Schmitt, and Rudolph Schroeder.
Mrs. Herman (Lizzie) Klingbell was born Nov. 2, 1882 in Germany the daughter of John and Gotliebe Cerall. When she was seven years old she came with her parents to this country to Michigan. Two years after they moved to Dakota territory to near Lidgerwood. She was married to Herman E. Klingbbell in 1898 near Claire City, S.D., by Reverend Cloeter.
For several years they farmed near Lidgerwood in Duerr township before moving to Hankinson in 1912. They resided there for one year and then moved to Wahpeton where they lived until 1929. Until 1936 they resided in Fergus Falls and Detroit Lakes, Minn., when they purchased a farm in Ottertail county where they lived until Mr. Klingbell’s death in April of 1942.
Following his death, she returned to Wahpeton residing at 313 3rd street South. She was a member of the Lutheran church and was an active church member. For the past six months he had been in failing health and had been a patient at the hospital for 14 weeks.
Surviving are two daughters; Minnie, Mrs. R. H. Stein and Elsie, Mrs. Frank P. Krause both of this city; two sons, Edward Klingbell of Langdon, N.D., and Herman M. of Seattle, Wash.; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Boelke of Lidgerwood, Mrs. Minnie Kemnitz of Claire City, S.D., and Mrs. J.F. Lieske of Pine River, Minn., a brother, Fred Cerall of Claire City, 15 grandchildren. One son died in infancy.
