Obituary
Peter A. Knoppy
Peter A. Knoppy, 71, Mooreton, died Sunday at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mooreton Lutheran Church, Rev. John F. Holte officiating. Burial will be at the Fairview Memorial Gardens in Wahpeton. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening and Wednesday morning until 11 a.m. at Vertin's-Wahpeton Chapel. There will also be visitation at the church for one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be no prayer service.
Peter Albert Knoppy was born Oct. 15, 1909, to Albert and Elizabeth (Hafner) Knoppy in Mooreton. He grew up and attended Mooreton public schools and served in the Army during World War II. He married Maryetta Medina on July 5, 1944, in Reno, Nev. Following his discharge he farmed in Antelope Township in rural Mooreton. His wife died on Aug. 16, 1961. He retired in 1973 and moved into Mooreton. He was a member of the Mooreton Lutheran Church and the American Legion.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Russell (Barbara) White, Breckenridge; Mrs. Philip (Delores) Bjornseth, Saugerties, N.Y.; one son, Robert, Valencia, Calif.; four grandchildren; two brothers Ben Knoppy and Joe Bouchard, both of Milnor, N.D.; and one sister, Mrs. Caroline Soward, Detroit Lakes, Minn.
Honorary casket bearers are George Fenies, Henry Herring, and Bob Lewis.
Active casket bearers are Dan Hermes, N.F. McLeod, Duane Stone, Leslie Bossman, Les Bahr and Gary Woodbury.
Presentation of the American Flag will be by the Robert Bergman American Legion Post #283, Mooreton.
