Obituary
Arthur Krause
Services for Arthur W. Krause, 81, of Wahpeton will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Christ, Wahpeton, with Rev. J. Edward Krueger officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Krause died Friday at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge.
Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening and Tuesday until 11 a.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Organist will be Connie Raguse and vocalist Ralph Graalum.
Honorary casket bearers will be Leo Novetzke, Ed Wacha, Melvin Olson, Earl Smith, Martin Voves, Roger Bramel, Rudy Sparby, Werner Zentner, Clarence Amundson and Harry MacLaughlin.
Active casket bearers will be members of the 40 et 8: Herbert Gast, James Mashek, Jack Schlepper, Earl Dosch, Russel Comstock, and Richard Wolf.
Arthur W. Krause was born Mar. 21, 1894 at Little Falls, Minn. to William and Mary Krause. The family moved to Wahpeton in 1907 where he attended St. John's School and the State School of Science.
He married Stella Wetherbee of Fairmount Dec. 21, 1917 at Wahpeton.
After serving in World War I, he returned to Wahpeton to join his father in the operation of a shoe store. In 1936 he joined Montgomery Ward as manager of their shoe department. He remained in this capacity for 28 years until he retired in Feb, 1964. For the last year and a half he had been a resident of the Wahpeton Rehabilitation Center.
He was a member of the Elks and charter member of both the Wahpeton American Legion and the 40 et 8.
Survivors are his wife; a son, Charles of Northridge, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Iram (Dorothy) Warner of Fergus Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Merle (Gertrude) Holmgren of Valparaiso, Ind., and Mrs. Pete (Mary) Hafner of Ironton, Minn.; and one brother, Walter, of San Diego, Calif.
