Gerald Krengel

TOWNER, N.D. - Gerald W. Krengel, 43, of Towner, N.D., died Saturday at his home of an apparent heart attack. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Thursday at the Zion Lutheran Church at Towner with the Rev. David Larson officiating. A second service will be at 2 Friday in the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Wahpeton with the Rev. Edward J. Rutter conducting the service. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.

Anderson Funeral Home of Towner is in charge of arrangements there and Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Casket bearers will be Vernon Bakken, Harold Meyer, Charles King, Robert Vagts, Robert Deede and William Meyer.

Mr. Krengel was born July 28, 1928, at Gardar, N.D., the son of Louis and Anna (Ueke) Krengel. He graduated from Hillsboro High School, attended the North Dakota State School of Science for two years and a college in Indiana for one year before attending law school at the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks for three years. He served as a first lieutenant in the Air Force in the Korean War. After his discharge, he continued his law practice for two years in St. Paul, seven years at Parshall, N.D., and for the past 10 years at Towner.

He is survived by one son, Alan; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Krengel of Wahpeton; four sisters, Mrs. Victor (Millie) Zimmerman of Battle Lake, Minn., Mrs. Onhen (Adele) Hestdalen of Abercrombie, Mrs. Donald (Gloria) Bezenek of Richville, Minn., and Mrs. William (Joyce) Howlett of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
