Obituary
Wahpeton Girl, 22, Dies From Injuries in S. D. Crash
A 22-year-old rural Wahpeton girl died in a Rapid City hospital Sunday from injuries sustained in a Saturday night accident. Dead is Mary Kube daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Kube.
Miss Kube was injured when the car in which she was riding went out of control after blowing either one or both of the rear tires and rolled over.
She died about 5 p.m. CST. Her mother and brother, John, were flown to Rapid City Sunday morning by Dr. M.E. Beltz and Rev. J.M. Mershon, both of Wahpeton.
Miss Kube was the dean of girls at Plainview Academy at Redfield, S.D., and was on a music trip with four students when the accident occurred. One of the students had both legs broken in the accident and the other suffered only bruises.
The group heard a loud report from the rear of the car while traveling and had slowed their speed. They had the tires checked at a service station and had proceeded on their way when the accident occurred.
Survivors include her parents, two sisters, Lou Ann, Mrs. Gene Scherer of Tioga, N.D., and Eugenia, a senior at Union College in Lincoln, Neb., and a brother, John, a Wahpeton high school student.
Miss Kube was a 1955 graduate of Wahpeton high school and graduated from the State School of Science in 1957.
Funeral arrangements are still pending.
