Obituary
Peter M. Langseth
Peter M. Langseth, 91, Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of Wahpeton, died Monday, Oct. 26 at Colorado Springs. The funeral will be at 2 Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Norman Winkelman officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening, 7-9, and 9-11 a.m. Thursday at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home Chapel and also at the church for the hour prior to services.
Casket bearers will be Paul, Jay and Brian Langseth, Lee Osman, Elmer Hoffert and John Williams.
He was born Sept. 12, 1890 to Hans and Anne (Benson) Langseth in Iowa. His mother died in 1891 and he went to live with his uncle, Nels Langseth in Worthington, Minn., where he grew to adulthood. After attending the University of Minnesota he came to Antelope Township, Richland County, in 1910 to farm with his father. He then married Ina Craig on Oct. 21, 1914 at Colfax. They continued to live on the family farm. In 1947 they moved to rural Wahpeton.
His wife died in 1951. He continued to live at their Wahpeton home spending the winter months with his daughter, Ila, at Fridley, Minn., and later at Colorado Springs. He became a permanent resident of Colorado Springs in 1977.
He was a member of the Antelope Township Board and a clerk of the Antelope School Board for many years. He was a member of the Antelope United Methodist Church.
Other memberships included the Wahpeton United Methodist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Harold, Barney; Marvin, Arlington Heights, Ill.; Verle, Breckenridge; Russell, Bloomington, Minn.; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Ila) Osman, Colorado Springs, 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
