Obituary

Rae S. Lauder, 62, Formerly of Wahpeton, Dies; Rites Saturday

Rae S. Lauder, brother of Max Lauder of this city, died Monday morning Nov 18, at the Methodist hospital, Des Moines, Ia., at the age of 62. Services will be held in the Congregational church, Wahpeton Saturday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m., Rev. Frank Hirons officiating. Interment will be in the family plot in Fairview cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening, and Saturday forenoon at Vertin’s-Wahpeton Funeral Chapel and at the church Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. Rae Scott Lauder, the son of the late Judge and Mrs. W. S. Lauder, was born in Wahpeton April 3, 1901. He attended Wahpeton public schools and graduated in 1918.

He attended the State School of Science for one year and transferred to Northwestern University for three years. While there he was active in sports being a member of the varsity football team for two years.

During his life he was an enthusiastic sportsman, actively participating in hunting, fishing and golf.

He was married to Sara Butler of Des Moines, Iowa in 1936 and they had two children, Mrs. Stephen Longfellow (Sara) Steffenburg, Chicago, Ill., and Bruce currently serving with the Army in Georgia.

Mr. Lauder was the manager for 25 years of the Minneapolis office of A. C. Allyson & Co. bond firm, which recently merged with the DuPont corporation.
