Former Richland County Official Dies in Minneapolis
John K. Lee, Once in Register of Deeds Office. To Be Buried Here
John K. Lee, former employee in the Richland county register of deeds office and a resident of Richland county about fifteen years, passed away at his home in Minneapolis Saturday evening following an illness of two weeks duration.
Mr. Lee was born at Rushford, Minn., August 16, 1869. With his parents, he moved to Richland county a few years later. The Lee family located on a farm on the Wild Rice River where they lived many years.
For a period of fifteen years he was employed in the local register of deeds office. He married Frances Porman of this city who passed away December 4, 1904. A few years later he married Mrs. Clara Opsal who was before her marriage Clara Hallum of Abercrombie, then a resident in the state of Oklahoma. His residence has been Minneapolis the past twenty-eight years.
His wife and three step children, Vernon Opsal of Minneapolis, Mrs. Martin Anderson of Minneapolis, Mrs. Ed Edmundson of Mandan and Mrs. Hans Ness of Abercrombie survive.
The remains were shipped to Wahpeton for burial Monday morning. Services will be held Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock from St. John’s church near Abercrombie. Rev. V. L. Patterson will preach the services. Burial will be made in the Fairview cemetery.
