Obituary

John J. Loberg, Former Furniture Man, Dies Here

John J. Loberg, who once operated a furniture store here where the VFW building is, died at St. Francis hospital here on July 24. Funeral services will be conducted from Vertin Funeral chapel here on Saturday afternoon at two with Rev. P. A. Gisvold in charge. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may all at the chapel Friday afternoon and evening.

Born September 28, 1892, at Britton, S.D., John Loberg went to Canada as a boy 16 years old to take a homestead claim. He came to Breckenridge in 1913 to work for the Great Northern railway for ten years. He left the railroad to start the Loberg Furniture company in Breckenridge. He started the Wahpeton store in 1921, selling the Breckenridge store in 1936 and the Wahpeton store in 1945. His health had been failing, causing him to dispose of his business.

On December 16, 1914, he married Bernice Severson of Breckenridge. His wife survives as do his children; M.S. Chester Loberg of Charleston, S. C., Mrs. A. Benson (Virginia) of Tacoma Wash, Warren C. Loberg, Valley City, N.D., Miss Colleen Loberg, Tacoma, Wash., Durwin Loberg, Tacoma, Wash., John A. Loberg, Wahpeton, Mrs. Vincent (Janette) Catala, Brooklyn, NY He is also survived by five sisters, Mrs. Ingeborg, Vestley Circle, Mont, Mrs. Regina Garrett, Faribault, Minn., Mrs. Earl Cherry, Beloit, Wis., Inga Loberg, Faribault Minn, Mrs. Rudolph Hemmel, Circle, Mont, and a brother, Chester, of Hillhead, S.D.
