Mrs. Sam Lock, This City, Dies Following Illness And Operation

Funeral Services For Pioneer Local Wahpeton To Be Held Tuesday

Funeral services will be held at two-thirty Tuesday afternoon from the Bethel Lutheran church here for Mrs. Sam Lock, prominent Wahpeton woman, who passed away at 8:40 Saturday evening.

Mrs. Lock had been ill since October 23rd, when she was first confined to her bed. She was in bed about a month, when she began to improve. However, when she was again taken seriously ill and was in the hospital for three weeks, returning to her home on New Year's day.

A week ago, Mrs. Locke went back to the hospital where a serious operation was performed. Her weakened condition and the shock of the operation proved too much and she passed away Saturday evening.

Mrs. Sam Lock (Martha Olen) was born January 25, 1898, at Superior Wis. She was married August 16, 1922, to Sam Lock and has made Wahpeton her home since that time. She is survived by her husband, her father, Odin Olen, of Minneapolis; her daughter, Marian Claire; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Helen Olen, her brother Otto Olen, passed away in Wahpeton on April 8, last year.

Mrs. Sam Lock was a member of Bethel Lutheran church, a Past Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge, and a member of the Legion Auxiliary and of the Dorcas society. She had a large number of friends here who join the family mourning her loss.

Funeral services will be held at the Bethel Lutheran church here at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. Reverend J. C. Wisnaes will officiate. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Mart Voves, Frank Giles, Martin Henoen, Melvin Sherva, Irvin Hedner and Arthur Halvorson.
