Mrs. H. D. Lord Dies Suddenly Monday Morning
Prominent Wahpeton Woman Succumbs. Funeral Arrangements Not Made
Mrs. Harry D. Lord, prominent Wahpeton woman passed away at the Breckenridge hospital Monday morning at 3:40 following a sudden illness. She was taken ill on Wednesday when what appeared to be the flu She grew worse and developed spinal meningitis. She was rushed to the hospital Saturday night. No funeral arrangements have been announced.
Clara Elsie Wegener was born August 18, 1891, in Wahpeton and grew to womanhood here. She was united in marriage Harry D. Lord August 10, 1910. To this union were born four children, Ione, Norine and Harry Jr. at home and Willis, who is at the State University at Columbus, Ohio.
Mrs. Lord is also survived by three sisters Mrs. Paul Koppe and Mrs. F. P Dailey, Fergus Falls and Mrs. H. H. Lord of North Battleford, Sask., Canada. A brother, August Wegener, died six months ago.
Mrs. Lord named a great many friends in Wahpeton during her life time. She was an active member of the Congregational church and the ladies aid of that church. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge and the W.R.C. here and of the Maccabees in Breckenridge.
Funeral Services For Mrs. H. Held on Thursday
Prominent Wahpeton Woman Buried in Fairview Cemetery Following Rites at Home. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Harry D. Lord, well known Wahpeton woman. Rev. J.S. Caskey officiated at brief private funeral services at the home. At the cemetery, a large group of friends of the family were on hand to pay tribute to the woman who had endeared herself to the hearts of all who knew her.
Pallbearers were James Grey, Walter Wendelin, Cal Hoffmann, George Donahue, J., Emil Zarling and Mr. Drexell. At the grave Mrs. Howard Paul sang two of the solos that Mrs. Lord most enjoyed in life. Present for the services were a large number of relatives of Mrs. Lord as well as her son, Willis, who came from Columbus, Ohio, where he is attending school, to be at the last rites for his mother.
