Mrs. Lotzer Dies Tuesday Evening
Funeral Services For Wahpeton Pioneer Woman To Be Conducted Saturday
Mrs. John (Sarah Jane Watson) Lotzer passed away Tuesday evening at eight o’clock, aged 66 years, 9 months, and 24 days. She had not been well for some time, but her last illness was very brief. Funeral services are to be conducted Saturday afternoon from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Sanborn, and burial will be in Wahpeton when the weather is less inclement. Rev. James Caskey of the Congregational church will officiate. Mrs. Lotzer had been a resident of Wahpeton for the past forty-three years and is a well known pioneer of the community.
She was born April 5, 1871, in Hortonville, Wis. She was married to J. B. Lotzer is 1890 at Ironwood, Mich., to which union seven children were born. In 1927 she was married to John Lotzer, a cousin of her deceased husband. One son, Herbert, died in 1929. She is survived by her husband, John Lotzer, and children, Mary (Mrs. Sanborn), Leo, living in Amber, Washington, Edward at Oakes, William at Hackensack, Minn., and Edith (Mrs. Stitz) of Wahpeton, and Robert, of Wahpeton. There are also six grandchildren and four great grandchildren, a sister in Canada, a brother in Wisconsin.
